AdvaMed Commends Administration Move to Increase Access to At-Home Covid Tests Through Private Insurance Coverage, Expansion of Testing Access in Vulnerable Communities
WASHINGTON, D.C. – AdvaMed released the following statement from President and CEO Scott Whitaker on the Administration’s announcement today that, (1) beginning in January, private insurance plans will cover the cost of at-home Covid tests throughout the public health emergency, and (2) the Administration will increase to 50 million the number of free Covid tests provided through federally qualified health centers, Feeding America food banks, and rural health clinics, to extend the reach of testing in vulnerable communities:
“Today’s announcement will go a long way toward extending the reach of quality Covid testing to the 150 million Americans with private coverage as well as reduce barriers to Covid testing access for those in vulnerable communities. We thank the Administration for their leadership and recognition of the crucial role testing plays in bringing an end to this pandemic. The diagnostics Industry has innovated at an unprecedented scale since the start of the pandemic, and our mobilization to produce Covid tests of all types will continue, as diagnostics remains an essential part of keeping Americans safe.”
