AdvaMed Congratulates Commerce Secretary Lutnick on Confirmation

Washington, D.C. –  AdvaMed, the Medtech Association, is the world’s largest trade association representing more than 600 medtech companies ranging from multinational corporations to small businesses and startups. President and CEO Scott Whitaker made the following statement on U.S. Senate confirmation of Howard Lutnick as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Commerce.

“Congratulations to Secretary Lutnick on his confirmation to a position with a history of working closely with medtech as a mainstay of advanced manufacturing in the United States and product exports worldwide.

“Secretary Lutnick brings his significant business acumen to the Department of Commerce, an important partner to AdvaMed and the medtech companies we represent. The medtech supply chain is complex, requiring careful management and responsiveness to ever-changing conditions. The Commerce Department helps our companies navigate supply chain disruptions beyond their control, whether caused by natural disasters, port strikes, or geopolitical shipping constraints, such as the conflict in the Red Sea. During the COVID-19 pandemic, AdvaMed and our member companies worked closely with the Commerce Department in deploying lifesaving supplies to the areas of deepest need.

“AdvaMed looks forward to working with Secretary Lutnick and his team to promote policies that support medtech innovation and manufacturing in service to patients in the United States and worldwide.”
