AdvaMed Welcomes Jim Jeffries as New Head of Public Affairs
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed) today announced that Jim Jeffries has joined the association as Senior Vice President for Public Affairs.
Jeffries will oversee AdvaMed’s communications efforts, working closely with association members to highlight the industry’s key role in the health care system. He replaces Greg Crist who was promoted to Chief Advocacy Officer at AdvaMed.
“Jim is an accomplished communicator with a breadth of experience in the halls of Congress and beyond,” said Scott Whitaker, President and CEO of AdvaMed. “I’m excited to welcome him to the AdvaMed team, and I look forward to working with him to advance the policies and positions driving medical innovation.”
Most recently, Jeffries served as head of executive communications for the late Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen at Vulcan Inc., where his role was to help build Allen’s public profile and lead his external and internal communications efforts across his vast network and varied philanthropic pursuits.
From 2009 to 2016, Jeffries served as senior communications director for U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) and the Senate health committee where he led the year-long public affairs effort surrounding the bipartisan 21st Century Cures Act, among other major HELP committee successes.
From 2002 to 2008, Jeffries worked in communications for several members of the U.S. House of Representatives, including House Republican leadership; and spent a year at the language strategy firm Luntz, Maslansky Strategic Research where he worked with Fortune 500 companies, trade associations, and political clients. Jim is a graduate of Brigham Young University in political science.
