This report is designed to help policy advisors and analysts understand the types of information that can inform clinical and coverage decisions for medical technologies. The goals of this paper are to illuminate the complexity of medical technologies, to demonstrate the need for appropriate matching methods for generating evidence about value to each technology and clinical situation, and to elevate thinking about how such evidence is created, analyzed, and used.
